    I don't know why folks do this it really makes it hard for someone to correct, why not just use a simple reducer fitting were at least "if" you ever wanted to run a new lineset it would be easy to sweat in the new 7/8 copper.

    So I take it that now that this crimping is done, it can't be corrected? (Yeah, I'm still around!)

    All this talk about refrigerant lines touching brick or wood causing the droning sound...didn't now if reducing the size of the line could exacerbate the problem.

    The only "real" way to correct it IMO would be replace the pump down valve.

    Okay, I guess the real question is:

    Should I risk having the install guy muck around with replacing it? Or is it harmless (albeit ugly) as is?
