His crew did the work, but then he came and "inspected" it afterward and I guess he deemed it acceptable. Of course, it was 9 at night before he came, but that's no excuse. I'm guessing he saw those cut corners and didn't say a thing.

Those who have worked on Goodmans...is this a problem and could it contribute to the sound issue?

Another said day in the HVAC chronicles, worrywart, on that note let me apologize for the industry, as proffessionals, we have no control over hack jobs, and I can only hope your installers will make this right for you. It is there responsibility. Please don't think that everyone in this field does work like this, I wish you the best of luck.

Okay, thanks captube. I was wrong WorryWart. Nothing to worry about. I even checked Goodman's product specs for the GSH13 before posting but couldn't find anything about scrolls being used in any of them. I certainly believe you, though.

And WorryWart, the scroll is typically the preferred compressor, so that's a good thing! I was under the inclination that the unit was marked incorrectly, but I was wrong apparently!

So basically, on the install the primary issues I'm hearing are:

    (1) the original copper piping was too small for new unit and instead of installing new piping they crimped the pipe. Should be redone? Will it damage the unit if not fixed?

    (2) Drainpipe issues.

    (3) All the wires in front of the inside unit

    (4) No outisde kill switch

Anything else that is glaring and necessary on the install end?

Thank you, Jay. At this point, though, I'm not sure what "right" is! groan. :-(

yes scroll compressors are the best and have certain sounds and vibrations that will carry through the refrigerant lines.

this is why it is so important the lines arent touching and wood or brick

    mainly the small line

best compressors ever through you got good on that part

    Dang long thread.

You were hacked. Agree with Mr. Bill, about a 3.
Have him correct that garbage install.

And installing a 3.5 ton on a 3 ton duct system, is not a good idea.
You could have to put up with that air noise in the winter. Or, you can pay to have the duct work redone.

Keep asking questions and listening to the answers, then you'll know. (Probably more than your installers)

Excuse the ignorance, but don't those lines run through the brick of our walls to get inside to the air handler unit? How do you insulate them from the brick?
