Do you have any thoughts on this 110/220 issue?

    110 volts and 220 volts
these are the voltages we deal with in the average resi house

yes you are it is the busy time for all of us and that is not an excuse for doing **** work IMHO. This guy knows better and isnt willing to spend the money needed to do the job correctly.

mrbill is right you have been great and sorry you have come accross one of the bad guys.

a picture would be good though

did you pay cash or visa
if visa then call and hold payment till he does right by you and dont worry about pissing him off either

Maybe he put a 110 volt condensate pump on a 220 volt line, or vice versa.

Unfortunately (and stupidly, in retrospect), by check. I'm pretty sure it must have cleared yesterday or this morning....but maybe not. Would it be horrible of me to withold payment?

Hey, when I get this resolved (one way or the other), I'm posting a picture and a big THANK YOU post to all of you who've held my hand through this whole thing!

You don't get charged for bandwidth until post #107, after that it is $1.95 per post.
    Make check payable to Twilli.

Except he never replaced the pump....just reused the old one! (Goes from bad to worse, doesn't it!!

He says now that he is going to replace it (first he said he'd replace it if it went bad, but I insisted he put a new one in). I'll bet he plans to send the same crew out to do these things as did the install!

No you're a girl, these mutts will talk to you forever.

He might of met he should have put in a 240 vac condensate pump instead of using a 115 vac condensate pump.

So all the power issues that spring to mind have to do with the condensate pump?

I stand corrected. Many apologies to the lady.

Yes, the power issues are about the condensate pump in my mind.

Hmmm, okay. It just seemed odd that he walked in, heard the vents and started murmuring about voltage. Maybe you all are right and he has no clue and he just thought that would impress me.

Oh no, I am becoming uncharitable in my fatigue and frustration. I guess it's time I went to bed...and I'll check in tomorrow for any other thoughts anyone has. Can you believe I spent the whole night dreaming of HVAC issues? Go figure!

I don't remember. Have we talked about the air handler maybe running off 120 vac instead of 240. That motor would run real slow and hum.

Probably overheat and just quit though.

You may have to increase the supply air runs by adding another run into a room close to the furnace to move more air easier. Try taking the filter out for a few minutes and you may have to go to a less restrictive filter. More return air may also be required. Try removing some of the supply air registers and see if the noise lessens. Maybe different registers. Every brand has good, better, best with the less expensive equipment often being noisier. Good luck.
