    Lennox xc16 versus Lennon xc14

I have used the search function and realize that much of this discussion is already elsewhere. Forgive me for asking my specific question: I am building a new house in Houston, Texas. Considering the Lennox XC14 or the two-stage (two-speed? does that mean the same thing?) XC16.

    My questions:

    1. Is the two-stage feature worth the candle? That is, will it save on electricity costs?

    2. Does the two-stage feature also have something to do with humidity control?

Thanks. The house will be about 5,000 square feet, and the proposal is 4 tons down and 5 tons up. Power costs are approximately 15 cents/kwh. I expect summer ac bills in the $250-$300 range, but I hope not too much higher. I dont know because I live in a much smaller house now.

    Thanks again.

2 systems. 4 ton unit for the first floor. 5 ton unit on the second floor.

Please excuse me, it's been a rough day, originally, I only saw the four ton, sorry, I don't have a real opinion on the two stage, we can usually get by with the single stage condensor around here, I'm sure your area is much different.

i don't know the difference in pricing because my brother handles that, however i do know we have never installed the xc16 unit. every 2 stage we have installed in the newer units has been the xc21. might want to look into that model.

i think he had said the efficiency ratings were kind of weak on the xc16 for the money they cost.
