best 5 ton system for me
I have a 1900 sf 2nd floor apartment in Brooklyn NY ductwork already installed. I need a central air cooling system with compressor outside and air handler in attic above apartment. because of limited hight the air handler has to lie down. I would appreciate advice as to the most cost effective system for my situation
thanks

That rule of thumb is for hacks! Do a true Manual J load calculation. Do not use a rule of thumb, that is another term for GUESS.
My 2,000 sq ft house in Myrtle Beach, SC has (1) 2-ton system cooling it. Why would you use a bigger unit in a cooler climate. If you have lots of glass, your load may be higher, but why guess??????
Do it right and do a real load calculation. Besides, a smaller unit will fit better.Remember, Air Conditioning begins with AIR.

For $50.00 you can download a 1 tim use copy of HVAC calc from this site and do your own. See the menu bar at the top of this web page.
Remember, Air Conditioning begins with AIR.
