2 stage cycles per hours question

When and why would you set the number of cycles per hour different for cycle1 and cycle 2. For example why would, as has I have seen it suggested in another thread, would you set 3 cycles per hour for stage 1 and 2 cycles per hour for stage 2?

Setting second stage to less CPH then first stage will keep it in second stage so it shuts off on the hotter days, instead of cycling back and forth between the 2 stages all day.

Its more of a personal preference thing.
Some people just don't like when the A/C runs continuous and its not at OD design temp yet.

How many times must one fix something before it is fixed?

Keeping it from cycling between the two stages -- would that also help reduce wear and tear on the equipment?

Not really, in some periods, it would increase it, since the unit will sometimes shut off and restart 5 minutes later.
