    I did learn that! It's just confusing because you know in technical school they tell us R is Red, Y is Yellow, W is White, etc. I wish there was a law that all contractors had to follow about standard t-stat colors. There are industry standards, right?

    Your friend isn't exactly honest. And either him or someone else did some wiring work for it to be screwed up like that.

    A color standard for low voltage. Would be nice. But not really needed.
    Never assume everything was correct before you get to a call.

    I want to be there when you crack open your first rooftop unit, that EVERY wire in the control wiring is the SAME COLOR! It is not that un-common, especially on older units, keep after it, you will learn.
