    Lennox a/c - pls help

Flipped to AC on my thermostat yesterday for the first time this year, however :

    - somewhat cool air is coming through (basement fan)
    - outdoor fan (condenser fan?) is not running
    - took some snapshots of the unit outside, from whatever little I could see and understand, the white cable seems to have burnt out.

I have also got some snapshots of the unit, including nameplate and the wire thats burnt out also.

I just had to get a new furnace few months back and i really dont want to buy a new a/c. Any help would be much appreciated, please comment for any input. Thank you.

You need to call a service tech in your area to come out and check the unit over. also shut the outdoor disconnect off in the meantime

    Thanks for your response.
I have called in a technician to come over today.

I didn't see any outdoor disconnect..
I have shut off the power from the circuit breaker for the a/c however, which was in the basement circuit breaker panel.

Based on your post, it should be a minor repair; however, the unit is almost 20 years old. (1989 from the serial number) Plan for a major failure (requiring replacement) in the next few years.

    Another DIYer with a Lennox.

You need a tech. Yes videos are allowed by professional members.

Twilli posts a lot of them. I think he spends all his time on HVAC-talk and Youtube

If you don't know, then don't do. If you don't know and still do, then be prepared to pay someone else a lot to undo what you did and then do it right.

If you do know, then do. But do it right. Otherwise, you may not be doing it long.

    yup...sure is.

Maybe now is a bad time to say I don't like Ford either. I'm a Dodge man.

Granted, my baby is a yard ornament at the moment, but I wouldn't get rid of her for nothin.

On the other hand, shes barely gets 12mpg on the highway......so she can keep the yard safe here for a few more weeks.

    lol.....

dude I got news for you. I wouldn't run into the back of you. First off, I have good brakes. Second is my truck is lifted on 35s......I would run OVER you. Or through you. 1 or the other.
