conversion from 7.5 TR to 3 TR. Need Help
Hi,
Good day to all.
Our compressor motor of 7.5 TR A/C unit is defective. Since the said 7.5 TR A/C unit is oversize to the room serve due to renovation of room partitions, I am planning to replaced the compressor motor from 7.5 TR (reciprocating type) to 3 TR motor (reciprocating type).
I would like to ask the following:
1. Can 3 TR compressor motor operates even if the condensing unit and evaporator is designed for 7.5 TR? is it okay?
2. What are the effects may encounter?
3. Is there anyone experience this kind of modification.
For your advisory...
Regards,
MorZ

2 systems !
1. No. Definitely Not.
2. Nearly Immediate malfunction with mismatch
3. No. I doubt Anyone would EVEN Think that this was realistic.
I believe that you need to basically start over
with either a dual circuit air handler
or with two systems.

Use two separate 3 or 4 ton scroll units.Designer Dan

It might look good on paper. But in practical use, no.
The server room may be smaller, but if you have the same amount of equipment, your cooling load is the same.
Size it right, and install a new system, indoor and outdoor. Plus you'll need a new line set.

as stated use a matched system with matched ductwork and matched heat load
dont forget to allow for some expansion (added equipment)

Wow, 7.5 ton
Do you have three phase power?
Guess it could be a static phase starter too I guess.

Thanks for the comments:
yes 3 phase motor. Split type unit, floor mounted, not ducted. The reason why were planning to replace it by 3 TR due to close cutting measure of our company. Very expensive to purchase 7.5 TR compressor motor, anyway cooling of the area serve is not a problem since the area serve is smaller than before.
Instead will purchase 7.5 TR, we are planning to use our Spare 3 TR.
But anyway thank you so much for the advice.
:-)
