I searched for this topic ~20 mins before starting new thread. Sorry to anyone who's already posted this information and I didn't find it.
I'm evaluating 2 models from Trane, having difficulty translating my comfort into the correct technical terms. I live in an 1800 sq ft Maryland town home, where humidity is high (for me) 45 days per year.
How can I determine whether 14 SEER / 8.5 HSPF & variable-speed is better or worse for me than 17 SEER / 9.2 & two-stage cooling? The cost difference is significant, but if the 17 SEER system keeps me significantly more comfortable during the hot humid days than the 14 SEER, it'd help me make a decision.
I know personal preference questions are difficult to answer online, just wondering how one can be thoughtful about determining if 17 SEER is very much worth the bang-for-the-buck. Thanks for any opinions/advice.
