    Really Need Good Advice!!

Help! I have a five year old Carrier Unit in FL. Compressor needs to be replaced for XXXand electronic board on air handler may be bad now too. That should be XXX plus labor. The install company for our builder is out of business.
Should I can the whole thing and go with a new Goodman for XXXXinstalled? I never heard of Goodman and we plan on staying her for a looong time. Any other preferred brand?
Any and all suggestions would be appreciated

Might want to remove your pricing, its not allowed.

Couple things, 1st what the age and seer rating for the carrier system?

What caused the first compressor to go out?

What other repairs need to be performed to prevent the new one from being killed?

.1 has killed more HX then Rush Limbaugh

    What is your TESP?

    Hmmmmm....yeah I think I know too!

Who does a compressor for that ammount?? Most Carriers have a 5 year on the compressor don't they? Even if that is labor only seems low....and the board price seems low too....I think he should go with the Goodman

    Sorry for the rules violation

    Many apologies.

My compressor is under warranty until next week. I believe the thing started to go bad from the start five years ago when we lost 75% of our refrigerant b/c the install people failed to fully close the valve.

We have meen getting maintenace done 2x a year by professionals but it appears the board has gone bad b/c he bypassed it yesterday and the unit is working. It kept blowing the 5amp fuse when it was online.

I thought that it might be advantageous to have the entire unit replaced rather than piecemeal with the board and compressor but the unit is only 5 years now.

By the way, is there really a better residential unit or are they all around the same quality?

A bad install can kill one brand as well as the next.

The best unit is the one that is installed correctly!
