I've had my tools stolen twice. I'de suggest you get a rider on your home owners or rental insurance in case this happens to you.
W/o it mine omly padi 10% of the loss.Tracers work both ways.

Tools
The company I worked for required the tech to supply his own hand tools, meters, leak d-tec.and gauges. The other tools the company supplied vac pump, torch, ladders, ext cords.ref. scales, ect. You are making the business $$$$ they should supply everything except basic hand tools. That is just part of the expense of running a business besides they can take it off their taxes.

I tell you what at the end of the day you got some cheap a$$ companies out there. I worked for one and found out the hard way. I had to change out a register 16.5 feet high and all I had was a 10ft ladder.
It wasnt pretty, but I got it done.

The company my Son works for is the most generous company I know.
They had an allowance this year of (no kidding) $10000/truck. He got all kinds of hi tech stuff like those little tv cameras, refrigerant gauges that calculate every thing etc.
Almost made me want to apply there. Almost...
Union plumbers used to and probably still needed only to have a ruler and a pencil. Tinners needed a basic box of maybe $300 in tools.
When I worked for others I brought my tools to work because I liked working with them and siting at home did no one any good. But it wasn't a requirement.
I've also known techs that buy some special tools for themselves just because.Tracers work both ways.

Although I own my entire supply of tools, the company that I work for would never allow a truck to be on the road without all of the proper, quality equip. and tools. Proper tools and equip are part of quality service and some companies need to realize this.

The company I work for now supplies everything from my screwdrivers to gauges, meters, and anything else I need. I brought my tools in the first day, they told me take them home and go to the supply house and buy what I wanted. But that being said I have everything on that list, like most tech's do, I also have a pipe machine, pitsburgh machine, and 6' brake. It just makes everything I do easier, so the investment was worth it!!

My company supplies all power tools, battery operated tools, any test and measure tools, and any hand tools over 12" in length. We supply only hand tools under 12". They replace at their cost if anything breaks including personal tools, pretty fair arrangement.
