I'd amend that to say, IMO, that mental health is conditional, like so many aspects of overall health are. I'm reading an interesting book right now titled "The Brain That Changes Itself" by Norman Doidge, M.D., who makes the case that the human brain is plastic, or malleable, and that it has a remarkable way of restructuring itself. He also points out how it can form patterns that manifest in destructive or harmful ways, such as giving pot to a toddler that has a VERY malleable brain.
I never thought a book about the brain would be all that interesting to read. This one is. Wish more people would use their brains for good things vs. what we see here. Perhaps they do...maybe the reason we still get upset (and should) is that most of us are NOT out there giving pot to toddlers, and find such behavior reprehensible. For that I am glad. If folks were NOT upset about this, I'd be concerned about where we're going as a society, troublesome as it already is.

pos people
talk to any cop that'll level with you or a social worker and hear true stories that will make you throw up. I have both in my family and i have lost sleep some nights thinking about it. Unfortunatly most involve helpless kids preyed upon by drunks and useless people with no character or goals. Between that and whats going on around the world i firmly believe civilization is not happening fast enough. , Jack

I have a friend that worked as a social worker in Dallas County for a few years before she burnt out on it, she had some horror stories but the most disturbing one I ever heard was from a friend that used to foster (again, until they got burnt out on it), they had a little girl dropped off at their house with nothing but a t-shirt and took her to the local Wally World to get some clothes. While they were there my buddy told her she could pick out any treat she wanted to eat. She came back with a can of wet dog food
