My wife had a hippie associate over for dinner along with some other people she was in an association with. We always have fish on Fridays during lent.
So I choose linguine w/marinara sauce and scrimp. The hippie lady was watching me cook in the kitchen. She said, "Oh, I never eat scrimp!"
I said, "Oh, I am sorry. How about if I make you up a plate with just linguine and marinara sauce?"
She said, "That would be fine."
About 2 mins later she is standing right at my elbow watching me cook. I said, "What are you doing!??!!"
She said, " I'm watching you to make sure that you don't put any scrimp in my meal. "
WTF! I verbally blasted her. My wife got her away from me real quick.

I have actually had the opposite happen to me.
I was at some dinner where they were cooking foods from around the world and it was a buffet style thing.
Went to one of the dishes and saw in it the biggest mushrooms that I had ever seen. So I was standing there trying to get as many as possible. Got to eating them and they were the WORST mushrooms I had ever eaten. I was trying to like them but I couldn't stand them they were all tough and gross.
My older brother sitting next to me is like how do you like the tongue?
So I went in trying like it, didn't, THEN found out what it was; so openmindedness didn't help on that one.
Still can't eat tongue, my mind has been closed.
If at first you don't succeed; charge, charge, charge again.

yum I like tongue. Boil it then peal it then slice it . Put it between 2 slices of bread with mustard and a big cold glass of beer. Thai food has a dish I like made of tongue..

benncool, you were okay. Growing up, my daughter loved scrimps. We would make about 6 or 7 scrimp cocktails, with scrimp sauce and dig in. She's 31 now and still calls them scrimps.
