Digital Psychrometer --- Thoughts
Well with warmer weather coming back I went to pull out my Sling Psychrometer for doing A/C checks. And lo and behold it was no longer in my toolbox that I put it in when winter came. Best guess is one of the helpers I get pulled it out when getting something out and it either got left on a jobsite or "accidently" thrown out with trash.

So now I'm looking at getting a digital one, personally I'm leaning towards the Fluke 971. But looking for opinions from people who own these and some of the others. When you do a job, Always make it easier for the next guy, because you may be the next guy working on it.

The Testo 605 h-2 is a rock solid instrument, WB, DB and RH. Very long battery life, easy to read display, designed to go into the duct, and simple to operate. Very high repeatability of the measurement parameter. full specs are at trutechtools.com

The only thing I see about the Testo is, any parts house I goto has to order it. But the 971, I can walk into 3 or 4 different parts houses and get one "off the shelf".

I hear ya! Fluke and fieldpiece are easy to find, along with lesser brands. I only have 2 testo items the, 410-2 came as a freebie w/my 327-1 and I am impressed enough w/ the engineering to consider testo first as I browse for tools to buy in the future. I think with testo's new look and growing rep. it wont be long before they find their way onto the shelf in more places.

I have the Amprobe THWD-3. I find I use it more often than I expected for checking ambient air temps. I am very pleased with it. I do wish it was a little faster reading. The spec is 10 seconds for reading but that seems like a long time when I'm working on something.

Testo can be ordered online at www.trutechtools.com and response is faster than most supply houses I have dealt with in 25 years in this business. I had a strap break for my testo 523. I contacted Jim and had a replacement in 2 days. I have had locals that after we filled out the paperwork it left 2-3 days after I turned it in. 2 weeks I would finally get a call that the replacement had arrived. The owner of trutech has ver 40 yrs as an hvac tech so he knows what we do in this industry. Just my .02 cents

Well I can at least say I know the Testo is accurate....used it in my profile pic to do a vac. test on water and when the glass surface temp got to the dew point temp that my 606-2 was reading moisture started forming...at worst .1º off.

Rick,
When you consider that the Wet-bulb a calculated measurement from temperature and humidity, you really start to appreciate the accuracy.
