In Need Of Expert Advice
My contractor just installed a 3 ton GEO thermal Comfort Air unit with a Trane 4TEE3F31 variable speed air handler which is a 2.5 ton unit. He jumpered it for the correct CFM. To me this seems like a problem since the 2.5 ton air handler is smaller. Will this cause me to lose efficiency? Is this a problem?

I couldn't trust a builder around my neck of the woods.
Call trane and tell them the air handler you have. Ask if the geothermal unit you have will work with it. I don't have the manufacture specs in front of me. I don' know if the mdl # you have there is a 2.5 to 3 ton unit.

Its not a 2.5 ton air handler, its the smallest convertible variable speed air handler Trane makes, it is matched with 1.5 to 3 ton units

Thank you for the help. I said jumpered but it was actually set by the dip switches. Since this setup will work I have one last question. Is there any advantage to getting the Trane 3 ton variable unit over using the Trane 2.5 ton variable unit to use with my 3 ton GEO thermal outside unit???

You might get a few more BTU's of sensible cooling.
You might have less humidity removal too. So you would need those extra BTU's to get the temp lower to feel as comfortable, and might have a higher electric bill.
You might have cooler air blowing out in heating mode also.
