Work smarter not harder.
I remember taking oil sample from a amonia system. I would take it to the shop and not tell the dispatcher where I got it and have her smell it. I would have to stay away from the shop for a few days. The bad part was she fell for it 3 times.
Freonrick. You should have been fired after the first time.
WOW! What could have broke to allow that much to leak out at once?
Actually the dispatcher should have been fired long before this, She has been on a power trip for a while. She would send unqualified techs to jobs like this who never worked on amonia system. She had put techs in danger often. Equipment would be damaged because of techs not knowing what they were working on. The last chiller I had to repair was a McQuay centrifugal spinning the main bearing due to the tech not knowing what he was doing.
From your comment your probally on a power trip also. Do you always make decisions without knowing the facts?
Remember any thing can happen at any time. It would have been nice the video would have showed where it came from. It may not even been from a refrigeration unit. I have seen relief valves blowing that the vent pipe wasnt hooked up, condenser tubes splitting or even a fork lift driver running in to the equipment. The important thing is know your surrounding and what is around you and know what to do if something does happen. Somethings you only get one chance.
