What version of BACtalk are they running?
I have a customer with BACTALK server and they threw
out the Alerton rep.
How do I find out the password to login to the server?
What version of BACtalk are they running?
I don't know, I will have to check.
They should have the latest because the job was just done.
If it's 2.0 or higher I have a tool I have written to reset the local administrator password.
I didn't check yet but I know it is at least 2.0
Besides the server, the system has a Webtalk I-PORT
Does it affect the I-PORT?
What if there are multiple server users that have the
highest password level, does it just reset the local admin?
How much does your tool cost?
I sent you an email a while back... I just wanted to confirm that you got it.
MagenticaSoft-
This is few months old but I have the same issue as mechinc.
I'm looking to reset the local admin password for a BT2.0 customer who has fired their rep.
I have a Alerton Webtalk server that we are trying to diagnose issues with But it is asking for login name and password.
This is what it says on the screen.
Red Hat Linux release 7.3 (Valhalla)
Kernel 2.4.18-27.7.x on an i 686
webtalk login________
Can anyone help with this?
If you can log onto EBT then it it is the same user name and password, what version of EBT is on the server, "not WEBtalk" .
If I would of killed my wife when I first met her, I'd be out of jail by now!
GET SOME!!
Ask your customers to set you up an account - There is no need to reset the local administrators account password.
I have the same issue, can I have that tool sent to me? It would be greatly appreciated
wow that would be super useful can i have a copy too?
Hey just wondering if you still have the tool I could really use it as well! Thanks
Encrypted passwords are stored in BACTalk.mdb file. I don't know how to decrypt. But I have tried this method on Envision 2.6 and it works on small jobs. Make a backup of the whole rep/job folder, Uninstall envision and delete the Alerton folder from hard drive. Reinstall envision and give your own admin password. Then create the original rep/job and replace it with the backup. But make sure not to overwrite the BACTalk.mdb file.
Hi MagenticaSoft
I have a site running Envision for BACtalk 2.6 and would love a copy of your reset tool
Hi, One of my client have and alerton envision for backtalk 2.6 with unknown admin user name and password can you help me to help them.
Its actually pretty easy to delete the LocalAdministrator Password and make Envision to display the set LocalAdministrator password window. Go to regedit and open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\ then delete Alerton\LocalAdmin sub key. I have only tried this with Envision 2.6 and I do not know how this would behave on 3.0, try it at your own risk!
Hey reckless. I’m on 2.5, if I delete this nothing will change other than prompting me for a new admin password?
