i use the TIF 9010 with no problems just don't forget to turn it off LOL and i feel he should supply the scale, every where i have worked, supplied torches, recovery, and scales but at least a scale isn't terribly expensive

I agree. No mention of tools I had to supply 60 days ago when I was hired other than hand tools. Can't reasonably expect to bill out refrigerant w/o and the last job was having to report refrig. billed to govt. or DOT don't remember.

My scales died last year so I looked at and bought the Inficon Wey Tek. Like the fact that the display is on a coiled telephone cord and you can move it out the glare of the sun. Displays Lbs and Ounces are displayed in 3 digits whole ounce tenths of an ounce and hundredths of an ounce, example 1 lb 6.25 oz . If you charge small domestic units then you might like the hundredths display. Inficon also has a charging adapter as an add on accessory where you can set the required charge and it stops charging once that weight is reached. Like the fact that Inficon made this an add on unlike other companies where you have to buy the whole deal.

I have two Tif's that I have had for 7 and 6 years. Why do I have two? Well the first one along with me got caught in a down pour and would not cut on.Went and bought a new one and about a week later cut the other one on and it worked.I kept the new one because I figured it would quit soon, that was about 4 years ago.And they are only second and third weigh scales i have had and I have been doing service for 12 years and all have them have been the same model Tif's

I have a TIF 9055 off epay a few years ago for about 200ish. Accuracy is pretty good and overall the scale isn't too bad, but I probably wouldn't bother buying a valved scale again. Originally intended to use it as a means to prevent over stuffing a 50lb rec tank, but have yet to use it in that fashion. Another problem with it is battery usage. It uses 4 'AA's and a 9 volt and it seems to suck the 9 volt dry way too fast. Popping the cover and lifting the connector off the 9v between uses does the trick, but it's still a pita.

I think the company should sport the scale however. A bit pricey and and limited lifespan means it should be supported by the company, not the tech.

I've used TIF scales at first but became rather disillusioned with them. Mine would always lose accuracy after a few months of use and when I sent them to be repaired, they would work for awhile and go back to being inaccurate.
I now use CPS and I have had very few problems with them. I send them to CPS every 3 or 4 years and get them re-calibrated and they keep going better than that bunny on TV.
I have to supply my scales with my current employer, they don't and won't supply most of the gear I have to use. They only supply a recovery machine, recovery tanks, a vacuum pump, a nitrogen bottle, an acetylene bottle, an oxygen bottle, a truck and some ladders plus parts for repair. I supply everything else. I'm not too thrilled with it but the tool purchases make for plenty of deductions for the Ides of April and I generally get a hefty refund. I'm not too thrilled about that either but, that's for another thread.

I almost had 2 scales.Thought my old one was dead and stopped at a supply house to get another.Took it in with me to get a new 9v to make sure I absolutely had to buy a new set.And they worked somehow

at work we use yellow jackets. They seem to work nice. I think my school has those TIF's and we're always having problems with them it seems. Will your boss replace it if it is damaged on the job?
