I do aircooled VW's in my spare time, this is my current linup:
My original paint 1962 double door (doors on both sides) panel bus, all original still 6 volt system:
And my 1963 drag bug. Built every aspect of the car, engine, transmission, suspension, etc. Even built my own EFI system for it and have it setup running on E85:
I do the ATV thing every now and then. Still got the Banshee. It's fast enough to make tears run down your cheeks.
I recently got a VW powered Manx buggy almost two years ago. But now we're thinking of selling it to get a car to tinker on again.
(Only have $$$ and room for one at a time).
What did you have for EFI?
I made a home made from scratch. Had it running kind of ok with ONLY MAP sensor input. Never finished adding the TPS and other sensors to the thing.
I lose interest too fast on my projects, and have too many ideas about too many things so I never quite master just one thing.
This weekend I removed the turbo and the home brew EFI and put the carb and tailpipe back on.
Had issues with the fuel pump. Bought a new one yesterday at BAP. Ran it 200 feet today (after a 15 minute drive towing it to the desert) and it quit. Pulled the new pump and found the rocker/lever thingie BROKEN!
I had to take a rocker form one bad pump and put it on another to get it running today.
