    What are my options

    customer needs outddoor HP replaced (kid ran into it caved it in with dirt bike just got for xmas) # twpo36c100a3 indoor twe036c140bo. i think 12 seer. Is it possible to add new outdoor and change txv at air handler

    i believe you can add a txv to almost anything

    Before the new AH line came out, the 13 SEER units had some ratings with older AHs like the TWE-C series WITH a TXV. We've done a few with no charge issues.

    for the cost that you would/should incur for txv install/retrofit you should get a new airhandler and enjoy a reliable and comfortable system, good warranty maximum lifespan...

    if youre gonna do it do it right

    That is a 12 SEER outdoor unit. An XR13 outdoor unit will match up with that air handler if you install a TXV kit.
    You can either use the kit Trane sells that will screw right onto the fitting, or install a sweat fit TXV just before the fitting. Don't forget to remove the orifice.
    If more government is the answer, then it's a really stupid question.
