HVAC run time
Have 3 1/2 ton rheemn gas pack that runs 5 min off 17 min this has been average for the past 2 months i,ve been keeping track. Is this normal for such short run time" I,ve read its not good for short heat cycles

You may be able to change the number of cycles per hour at the stat.
Sounds like it may be set to 3 cph. Don't think you'ld want any less.
Also sounds like your unit might be oversized.
Just a guess.

The unit produces a set btu per hour. It's running normal but may be oversized. You currently have 3 cycles per hour. Playing with the stat will probably not help. Leave it alone and next time they replace the HVAC system, make sure they do a load calculation.
