I was at the supply house Friday, and the counter person told me about $700.00.

Yep, they're around $700.00. You can get them @ any supply house that sells Sporlan products.

    Sporran smart service tool

It's does look neat. Check out youtube, there are a few videos. The connection distance seems very limited though.

I'm personally very partial to the Imperial iConnect (on sale in a couple weeks). With the zigbee probe signal, the connection distance is almost 10x (or greater w/repeaters) that of the Sporlan Smart tool.

Really? That is twice what it is worth IMO.... To each their own.

It was in the FAQ's they have at there sight. It also said the temp clamps should be insulated for accuracy.

Digicools say the same thing. Think thats all clamps. I dont really believe it would make all that much difference.

Actually, depending on the design and the surrounding ambient and the temperature of the pipe you are measuring it can make a huge difference. There have been several studies by several of the manufacturers on this that I know of, Testo, Fieldpiece, Cooper Atkins just to name a few. Some of the manufacturers have even built in a software offset into the clamp for increased accuracy. There is quite a bit of engineering that goes into getting a good temperature measurement.

If you look at the Sporlan Smart tool video you can see there are absolutely no cords like the YJ has on it.

YJs claim 400ft range, Sporlan I think best is 100ft. I want to be able to read pressure/superheat like if im on a walkin cooler or something without having to climb to the roof as much.
