    No aluminum pipe? Silver tape it

    This was a rental unit that I ran into. Whom ever installed the flue piping rolled up some sheetmetal and silver taped the beez-jeez-is out the thing! Obvioulsy we ended up replacing water heater and did this right.

    Naw-thats the copper tube that follows the flue chase to feed water to the evap-cooler setting on the roof.

    I don't know about the flew, but I bet he kept those handy dandy gas line style water hook-ups.

    We ended up just gutting out the entire water heater and HVAC system. Obviously had to upgrade the water piping to the new water heater. Per code here and just plain common sense has you upgrading the system with an expansion tank, new piping and solid ball valve.
