    Removal of a Rooftop Unit

I have a question that i could use some help with. I live in ontario cananda. My question is. Is it legal to remove a rooftop unit of a roof without removing the refrigerent. I have always been lead to believe that before you can take one of the roof the refrigerent must be removed.

In the US anyway, the refrigerant has to be captured sometime before the unit is dismantled. Many lift them off the roof full and take them back to their shop to do it. Or leave outside their shop and the scavengers vent it when the take the coils

What are you planning on doing with the unit after it comes down?

If scraping it, then it needs recovered sometime, but not on the roof.

    If reinstalling, then no.
