Carrier Thermostat Question
Could somebody please explain the functional difference between the "Edge Programmable Thermostat (says it has humidity control) and the older "Performance Thermidistat"? Other equipment includes one speed Performance outdoor unit ( very quiet) and the FV air handler.
The "Edge" definitely looks nicer and is very quiet. However, I am interested in the functional differences and the effect of those differences .... if there are any.

The EDGE only needs 4 wires works like INFINITY control in that regards,I like Thermidistat better for ease of use.It is smaller then the Thermidistat in wall size.
It's NOT the BRAND,it's the company that installs it!!!!!

The edge only needs two wires to the stat unless you mount the control module as the subbase. All the relays are in the control module like the honeywell iaq. Basically it is the same as the iaq.

Reason: It is the replacement for the thermidistat

Carrier/bryant Dehum Option
Remember for dehumidification with variable speed fan motor, you need to run an extra wire to the DeHum terminal on the fan blower control board. Then the J1 jumper needs to be removed off the board as well.
WARNING:IF YOU DON'T KNOW THEN DON'T DO, SO THOSE WHO KNOW WHAT YOU DIDN'T KNOW DON'T END UP UNDOING WHAT YOU DID SO IT COULD GET DONE RIGHT!
