So. You think your smart
Take 15 minutes and read this. Strikingly similair to these times. And what is really interesting is the end when they talk about stifling world trade and raising taxes.
It's almost incredible how even with the just recent Government backed Bear Stearns bail out how closely this period of time emulates the dawn of the Great Depression. Banks were failing, we became introverted to trade that resulted in high unemployment around the world, the government initially pumped money into the system, then to put on the brakes to prevent inflation, which then caused more upheavel, then the democrats raised taxes. Just like they are talking about now.
You gotta read this.

Amazes me how they still think higher taxes solve all our problems. How's it worked so far??
They can't be that ignorant, just arrogant.

Problem is ............ they are using socialism trying to solve this problem.
Housing bubble blew up ........... Not like housing prices havn't gotten way out of hand. This has been building up for years and everyone knew it. Its just one of those cases that no one wanted it to stop being so many were making easy money off it
Its not like anyone in the trades didnt know people are getting in these house with little or nothing down or the realitor says there is a down payment , but its just part thats added to the buying cost. They never really did any down ppayment ( creative financing )
Why does a $150,000 house now go for $380,000 - $500,000 - over $1,000,000 depending on what part of the country you live in.
You think your living in a expensive house but the area has probably been being artificially held up to higher prices of housing so you pay higher taxes , insurances and everything else on that house.
We havnt seen anything yet ......... THIS HAS BEEN A LONG TIME COMING , YOU THINK ITS UGLE NOW ...... YOU HAVN'T SEEN ANYTHING YET.
They have no idea what they are doing. Everyone that has been making money on this bubble is screaming at the government to do something. Anything to artifically hold up the housing economy ........... the IDIOTS, thats the problem, it has been artifically held up for years.
You have to let it correct itself. Quit throwing money at something that that is going to have to correct........ that just drags it out.
The socialists are claiming you have to save the poor people losing their house , it shows how stupid the socalists are ....... they will be using this as a way to buy votes.
Sorry everyone but the polititions and fed have no clue what they are doing.
Just like giving out subsidies for every special interest group ........ it just destroys the free market.
Now we are going to see the credit card bubble blow up too being Your piggy bank ( value in your house ) isn't gonna be there for a lot of people to get second morgages to spend like there is no end.
Your house now has no value like you thought is did. People relate that to what they think they are worth. people are already reavaluating what they think they are worth and thats why things are slowing down
what the polititions ...... they gonna screw it up worse playing Republicans against Democrates ...... the whole bunch is out of control being they have no intention of doing whats right for the country

You are so right! Now would be a great time to get rid of Unemployment Insurance and Social Security... since they are the two most socialistic policies governments cling to!

Double-Double Dees: Thanks for posting that article... Yup lots of parallel lines drawn. I truly believe that those that forget the past are bound, determined and destined to repeat it.Last edited by gruntly; 03-18-2008 at 12:56 AM.
