They have tools there touse if you need it. I drove to it and was able to use my own. I had brought my DVD player with me and some DVD's. You won't need and PPE's They will provide the safety glasses for the class and the tour of the factory. They offered transportation to their "naval" museum after class one night - worth going IMHO. Got to tour one of the subs they made there during WWII. Some of the guys went into town for drinking if that's your thing. They have a fairly good selection of restaurants for your dinners - don't forget they provide breakfast and lunch. Other than that didn't seem like too much to do in town. I pretty much stayed in the hotel after dinner and watched my DVD's or watched the tube. As I recall the hotel had HBO.
And above all bring an open mind, they will give you a wealth of information that you should be able to use in the field. Have Fun!!!

Yota...
I'm really too old to out drinking or even chase the women, so I'd probably bring DVD's too.
But you're a youngster ready for some fun. Go downtown with the guys.
Who knows...you may meet one of those gals with the perfect Manitowoc form...

About half power point class an half ice machine training on models rigged to fail about four differant ways a piece. Your "job" will be to diagnose the problem for the instructor who will then if you get it right to change the "problem" and tell you fix the next one. That being said.....
Don't party too hard, class starts early....Oh and BTW....They do have a soda machine there hooked up to an ice machine....go figure...

ahhh... Might want to think about bringing those dvd's.
Manitowoc does have some good places to eat. Pretty much your typical wisconsin small city. Just curious is your flight to milwaukee?

Pretty much. The guages will be already in place on the machines.
One more point...If you do want breakfast it starts early and the shuttle to the factory leaves right after...if you miss it it is your responsibility to get to the class. It's about 10 minutes away from hotel; can't imagine how long it would take to walk.
If you like nifty promotional stuff...like shirts, pens, etc. Bring some "extra" money they will take you to the factory store the last day of class.
You'll get a hat (free) from the class and a whole crapload of manuals. So leave some extra room to bring this stuff back!B-

Just a bit of advice,
I went to a Carrier commercial hvac class back in '89. It was a 2 week course and it was quite intense. There was a lot to read at night after just about every day of class. I was up reading until 10:30PM most nights.
There was the group of guys who went out drinking regularly. I don't think they learned half as much as the class had to offer.
If your boss is paying for this class then it's being paid for you to learn what they have to teach you. If you're paying for it yourself then don't waste your time and money going to class with a hangover. Vacations or the hvac-talk convention are a time to check out the bars.
The class I took was a turning point in my career and launched me into commercial service. I can't imagine still doing residential service on a regular basis now. Get as much from this class as you can with a clear head and a sharp mind.R2B4BTU
