How often does a pressure switch for an inducer draft motor actually fail. What is typically the underlying problem

I've replaced two this year (so far), both were about 3-ish years old.

The furnace is a 3 year old tappan . The tech that came out said he could not get a pressure switch for a tappan .

they can last for 1 day

it all depends on a variety of circumstances

thats a sad day when you cant get a part for a 3 year old system

seems like he was not looking good enough!

3 year old Tappan. Its still under part warranty.
Look in the phone book for Tappan dealers, they will have it, or be able to get it.


Pressure switches don't go bad often, But are quit often condemned for doing their job.

pressure swithes have a rubber diaphram inside them. eventually they will stretch enough that they don't make the circuit. They can also become erratic when there are minor obstructions in the orifice at the furnace,inside the tube etc.If the inducer doesn't get up to speed, the pressure switch also will become erratic. I've seen numerous ones changed, only to find out it had a different problem. You need to verify the failure mechanically and electrically.
