    Reality Check?

I've been told a few things by my contractor that don't seem to jive with what I've read on this forum; but maybe I am in left field.

    He says:

    1) Dampers are rarely used in residential HVAC systems.

    2) Static pressure measurements are rarely made in residential HVAC systems (in fact, he does not even have the equipment to do it).

Is this typical? Am I being unreasonable to expect these things?

What he is telling you is true, but that doesn't mean its correct.

He's correct, but dampers may or may not be needed, static and determining the correct cfms ,using the fan data chart for you model is critical to the overall operation of the system.

Manual D for duct design would solve you issues from what I've seen on your other thread.

Many systems are installed without dampers.
    Same as esp testing.

Can't balance a system without dampers.
Really don't know how much air is being moved without esp, or some type of volume measuring.

Your contractor puts them in and if they work great, if not, he might keep coming back till it does.
