Americans being abused by the Goverment

Information from a teacher friend :

This is supposed to be America...When Will "WE THE PEOPLE" WAKE UP?

What I'm about to talk about is a subject that is close to my heart. It's a fact that we have adult students, at the school where I teach, who are
NOT US citizens and who get the PELL Grant, (which is a federal grant with no pay back required), plus other federal grants, to go to school. One student, who is from the Dominican
Republic, told me that she didn't want me to find a job for her, after she finishes my program. When I asked her why, she told me that she was getting free housing from our housing department, and she was getting a PELL Grant, which pays for her total tuition and books, plus she'll have money left over.

She said that she was looking into 'WAIT', which gives students a CREDIT CARD FOR GAS to come to school, and into 'CARIBE' (which is a special program for immigrants that pays for child care and all sorts of needs, while they go to school or for training). This very same student told me that she was not going to become a US citizen, because she plans to return to the Dominican Republic, someday, and that she 'loves HER country. I asked her if she felt guilty by taking what the US is giving her and then not even bothering to become a citizen. She told me that it doesn't bother her, at all, because that is what the money is there for!!

I asked the 'CARIBE' administration about their program and found out... 'if you ARE a US citizen, you don't qualify for their program'. So, here I am, working a full day for my wages, and my
son-in-law works more than 60 hours a week to support his family. Everyone in my family works hard and had to pay for their education.

Something is very wrong, here. Am I right? This is but one more example of our illustrious "TAX AND SPEND CONGRESS", that thinks they know how to spend OUR HARD EARNED MONEY better than we do...and it doesn't even benefit the citizens who elected them! No wonder our national debt is so high!

America is in a sad state, right now. We have an upper class, that lives comfortably and can afford to pay for anything they need; we have a shrinking middle class that is getting hammered, because they don't get any perks and have to pay for everything (many people have to incur large debts just to afford an education); and we have the lower class who can barely afford necessities, receive little help, and struggle just to survive. Then we have people
living in this country, who are not US citizens, and are having everything handed to them for free! I just don't get it!

It has never been more important to know who you are voting for and what their positions are on many issues, including the one above. If the wrong people get voted into office, all of us 'average Americans' will pay a steep price in the long run.

When I heard that they want the National Anthem sung in Spanish, I said to myself, "Enough is enough." It was written by Francis Scott Key and should be sung, word for word, the way it was written. The news broadcasts, in my area, even
gave the translation....it's not even close!

Sorry if this might upset anyone, but this is MY COUNTRY! IF IT IS YOUR COUNTRY,TOO, YOU HAVE TO STAND UP AND SPEAK OUT, IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE WAY CONGRESS IS SPENDING OUR MONEY. Please pass this along. I am ALL FOR legal immigration...I belive you should come here the same way all other past immigrants did.
(Get a sponsor; have a place to lay your head; find a job; pay your taxes, live by the rules; AND, most important of all, LEARN THE LANGUAGE, or you can't become a citizen!)
    GOD BLESS AMERICA!

    PART OF THE PROBLEM
Think about this: If you don't want to forward this for fear of offending someone -- YOU'RE PART OF THE PROBLEM! I decided it was time to speak up, because I've had enough! If you agree with what I said -- pass this along, if you don't agree -- delete it!

and it's going to get worse? why? Because generation Y (the YOU OWE ME generation) is coming to power. This country is going to become much more socialist the democratic

My bet would be this "person from the Dominican Republic" is NOT going to go home, ever? why should he/she, they get everything for free.

This country NEEDS a change from the last two families that have been screwing this country up for the last 20 years.

The next 4 to 8 years are going to be very interesting. Whom ever becomes President, they are going to face some very hard choices, with the oil crisis, and the Iraq situation and the economy, we are headed for a major change in life style.

That's generation Y pulling for him. They want "change", which means "give me's if you tow the line for the elites, ie ruling socialist lawyers. You got to remember, this generation was raised in day care and babysat by MTV. Mom and Dad pay for their college because they are too good to work at Burger King.

i worked with a guy who was known for being a terrible AC tech, he is from Vietnam.

he was going to college and one day he went to the career office to see what he could plan for after graduation.

he was immediatly offered a high-tech job at Kodak, BEFORE he graduated and BEFORE he earned any kind of degree.

he dropped out of college and started his career at Kodak for 70 grand per year.

a few years later he was let go.

the unemployment office paid him a monthy salary, paid for training in the AC field, and paid for his gas to and from school.

meanwhile...American kids are told, "sorry, bad economy, we have nothing for you"

In all fairness, I think the original poster should mention that this is from an e-mail making the rounds. I saw this several months ago in my in-box. Problem was, I had a difficult time proving it true. I did some research on the programs it talked about and couldn't find what the e-mail stated.
Yes, there are abuses of the system and yes, there should be no grants for non-u.s. citizens but we, as responsible adults, should not spread baseless rumor and gossip.

As for this statement made by the most recent poster
"the unemployment office paid him a monthy salary, paid for training in the AC field, and paid for his gas to and from school"
I have a really hard time believing that. As usual though, there's nothing to back this type of statement up.

you have a hard time believing that because you're not a foreigner and you have no idea what the government is doing with your money.

No need for it to be true, the jest of the article is right on the button, our goverment puts their hands in our pockets, and decides who deserves to get our hard earned money.

    Your goverment at work....read
