    air return whistles

    i have just recently (we've lived in the home about 6 months) noticed an annoying whistling noise in the air return vents. any ideas? the heat has been on all winter and only recently have i noticed this noise.

    Is the filter clean or have you recently changed to a different type of filter?

    about two months ago we had lennox pure air system installed with both units but i olny notice the sound upstairs. i just went into the basement and the sound is definitely coming from the furnace area--i don't know why though. i didn't notice the noise right after the air cleaners were installed though.
