    duct design employment

    I am a duct designer finding it hard to get steady customers,does anybody have any suggestions.I have been in the hvac industry for 16 years and know what I am doing.Thanks for all replies.

    I am in Ontario Canada but my software is good for all of North America and everything can be sent online or email.I work for owners and contractors and I am presently just residential.

    So, are you able to do the Manual J as well as the Manual D? You might want to add contact info to your profile.

    All my contact info is on my website,AIRSYSTEMDESIGN.COM.I use wrightsoft and I know it has manual j but I am not sure about manual d but I will have a look.I am just doing residential right now but I plan on getting into commercial eventually.

    How do you design duct systems without knowing if you have manual D? How can you design ducts without knowing the equipment selection? Which design process do you use ACCA or other?

    Canada has their own approved load calc system. I forget what its called.

    ACCA manual J, is based on ASHRAE formulas.

    In Canada we use the f280 method and my software has f280,manual j and manual d.

    I dont think there is much demand for your services in the residential market because anyone can buy writesoft or elite to do loads as far as design in resdential it is pretty much design build on most projects , commercial is where it is at for you most jobs spec shop drawings for duct installation ,contact sheet metal workers union the train all apprentices now in CAD and have some great design programs, The manual d is just a line drawing with duct sizes on it it does not give exact locations as do CAD drawings thats where the money is at
