Oil questions conversion 404a
Copeland mn#LACA-0131A-TAC-800 sn#CT98102235
Putting a closed up bakery on line after a 4 year shutdown. System is at least 30 years old no condenser tag.
W/IN freezer system flat leaks found and fixed.
Now converting to 404A... was HP80.... before that was 502.
Dont have a refractometer or whatever. Any other way to determine what oil was/is in there??
Due to the clarity, cleanness of the oil I suspect AB but not sure. Using POE.
Anyone know what that comp was shipped with? will call in am to distributor.
Its been a while since I have done a conversion.
Potentially still a bunch of oil trapped in the recievers below only pulled maybe a couple quarts from comp holds like 80 oz. charge
I know 5% low mix acceptable by copeland any isssues with higher mix concentrations?
Thanks

airon,
Even though the system is 30 yrs old, the compressor is a 98 yr model. The -800 at the end of the model number tells you it is a wholesaler model number replacement, not the original OEM compressor which was probably a LAC1-0300-TAC -2??. The compressor you have came with alky-benzene oil (the A in 031A) tells us that.
Here is the link to the Copeland AE bulletin which will help you with the conversion.
