    Help! Trane vs. Carrier

We have gotten quotes and are comparing the Trane XL16i to the Carrier Infiity 16. The Trane is a $750 more and the warranty is not as good. Am I answering my own question? I would rather pay alittle more to know that I'm getting the better unit, but I don't want to pay more for a comparable unit.

These are the questions I would want answered.

Assuming this is a HP system...

    1.any warranty difference?

2.Does Carrier quote include the Infinity controller?
    What stat is Trane quoting?

3.What are the cooling and heating BTUs of both the Trane and Carrier System you are looking at as well as the other metrics such as SEER, EER, and HSPF rating? SEE ARI directory.

Trane has a bad reputation of being light in BTUs.

    IMO

    HELP! Trane vs. Carrier

Thank you for the quick response.

City and State - Tampa, FL
    Trane $600
    Carrier $1100 + Tampa Electric $250
Both units are 16 Seer and both come with the programmable thermostat. The Carrier has 9.0 HSPF and the Trane has 9.2 HSPF.
The standard warranty on the Carrier is 10/10/10 and the Trane is 2/10/10.
Not sure about the BTU's and the other information.

Take a better look at Carrier Infinity control it is not just a programmable stat make sure you are getting this with your Infinity system. I don't sell them with out one. Cool Cash starts March 2. Ask your dealer for a reference with this system and call them, you will be impressed.

The name for the thermostat on the quote looks like Systxec. Is that the one that you recommend?

How do we find a dealer that offers the cool cash? On the Carrier link you provided, the dealers in our area don't show the cool cash icon.

I thought your dealer already offered it???

Which dealer are you dealing with?

I guess I should have assumed that the $1,100 Carrier rebate was the cool cash.

    Thumbs up Carrier Infinity

CARRIER NO DOUBT! The inifinity system is one of the most advance systems out in the market right now. The dehumidification on a infinity is priceless, I've been in homes set 80F and its so nice in the home. If you want to save a few bucks try the BRYANT Evolution same thing except the lower price
WARNING:IF YOU DON'T KNOW THEN DON'T DO, SO THOSE WHO KNOW WHAT YOU DIDN'T KNOW DON'T END UP UNDOING WHAT YOU DID SO IT COULD GET DONE RIGHT!
