HIGH SUCTION PRESSURE / LOW HEAD PRESSURE ISSUE

    Hey guys,

need some help i am working on a carrier unit with a Scroll Compressor. I am getting 80 PSIG low side and 165 PSIG high side. Liquid Line is also very hot to the touch. I know this is not normal readings and since it's a scroll compressor, I am thinking about replacing the TXV. Thanx for the help.

You are going to need to gather more info than that and post it because you are about to find out the TXV is not the problem.

sorry guys about not getting more info didnt have enough time cause i deal with all other stuff also, tommorow ill get the temperatures, but like i said the liquid line between the condenser and txv is hot to the touch, i know this line is suppose to be warm after the refrigerant subcools, the outlet of the TXV is cool but is not like super cold and theres no condensation. Im getting 80 PSIG suction pressure and 165 head pressure im kinda new to the field have about 2.5 years including 2 year tech school

Sounds like valves; weird for a scroll. Is there any way to valve it off & try pumping it down? Stop the cond fan & see if she'll build some head.

Ed did they teach you about super heat and sub cooling at tech school?

lol, yes i know i havnt had time to get those readings SUBCOOL is condensor temp - liquid line temp, and SUPERHEAT = is evaporator outlet/suction line temp minus evaporator temp

but just going by touching and feeling, ill say that subcooling is very low due to a hot liquid line, condenser is not rejecting enough heat ???

I'm curious as to what you've read that leads you to believe it's the txv?

I know you want to fix it, but let's slow down and use some theory here. Diagnosis should never include the phrase "I think".
You want to look good for the boss, but you also don't want to throw parts and money at the issue or make the issue worse.

SC should show the evidance of such. With a hot liquid line I think there might be several issues going on at once here.
