If they seceeded and suceeded
recently during this election time (the most worthless election in modern history) the media said that there has been an increase in conservative young voters in the South.
they believe that ultra liberal McCain won't be able to pull many votes from that region.
i can't help to think what North america would be like if the Confederate States of America became a country.
the south has had a small revival in religion and conservative politics while our current country uses the prostitute politics strategy.
i think the south would be making fools of us.
many blacks would have left but most would have remained loyal to the south, like they did in the "civil war"
dispite popular modern belief,
further imports of slaves would have been outlawed (CSA constitution)
and slavery would have been ended.
(writings of Jefferson Davis)
i'm sure the south would have a better job patroling it's borders.
i'm sure the south would have done a better job of keeping drugs out of the country, with is the major problem of the black communities.
i doubt the south would be buying everything from China like we do,
which means everyone would be working.
i'm sure the south would have had a much stronger education system without the carpetbaggers running their politics.
...i'm sure the north would be boasting that they are richer.
...probably the only trouble spot would have been New Orleans
Except that he will be running against someone that makes him look like a right wing ultra conservative by comparison.

If more government is the answer, then it's a really stupid question.
Don't know about the young voter's, but most older voter's here in the south will go with McCain even though he is too liberal. Sure beat's the alternative!
Yes Democrat's will go with McCain. What a lot of folk's don't realize is most southern Democrat's are conservatives, nothing like their northern counterpart's. Of couse there are party fanatic's that would vote for Bin Laden if he were on the ticket.
There have been very few times that I've ever actually voted for a candidate, but I'm alway's there to vote against one!
If you really want a landslide, how about Condi Rice for Pres. with McCain as VP. That would be an unbeatable combination!
If the south was separate I'm sure that would have made Texas standalone and they subsequently would have kicked their butts into submission.
I doubt texas would have stood alone when they were part of the confederacy already.
Like Hank Jr said, if the South woulda won we'd have had it made
duct tape and cable ties will fix anything, if that don't work add a 90-340.
Amen for that. If the South would have one you wouldn't also have the 14th Amendment which gives everyone one born here citizenship since all 11 Southern States had to ratify it to take their seats in Congress. The Northern States didn't have 3/4 of there States to pass it in their state houses.

No war and a great economy. Russia would have never been taken over by the commies because a strong Germany and the other European powers wouldn't have allowed it.
No Red China either. No radical Muslim rebirth because the Jews wouldn't have fled to the Holy Land to make a country. No Vietnam. We all would be richer and wondering how great heaven would be since we are already close to it on earth already. Such a dream.

"I could have ended the war in a month. I could have made North Vietnam look like a mud puddle."
"I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution."
A landslide? It's going to be close no matter who wins. Mccain winning would mean 4 more years of Bush, basically. So I don't think a lot of Democrats will vote for Mccain.
