If the local sales office offers a class on Rover, try to attend. I know you just spent alot of chicken on the Rover, but a few more won't hurt. It is a great tool to talk to everything on the chain.

You probably have the watered down Rover whic is Comm 5 only. For Comm 4 you will need E-Ware. It allows you to configure new Comm-5 boards and make simple changes. Trane does not sell full blown Rover to contractors, only factory offfices.
    It might get loud!

    Rover Software

You should have received both Com 4 & 5 in your packet. Com 4 is polarity sensitive, that means the same wire is on the negative and the other wire is on the positive on your communication link. You can use your Com 4 on programming TUC boards, and the majority of VAV boxes. The dip switches are where you set your address. Com 5 is another name of Lonworks, this is not polarity sensitive. You can use it to program ZN boards, MP580's and other Lonworks devices. They have neuron id's to distinguish the boards. The neuron id's are their addresses. Some ZN boards in fan consoles will require a key. I think it's an eleven pin key that you received in your packet. You will need to plug the key into board to communicate. When you start the Rover have the correct cord into the pcm card, hook it up to the board then either hit the Com 4 or Com 5 button on your laptop. This will automatically start the search. I recommend getting the books for the different boards from your local Trane office. On replacements the ZN boards are not configured. You will need to configure each board.

    Questions if you don't mind:
1.)Is the Rover hookup also polarity sensitive?
If so, is Red (+) and Black (-)?
Would I determine (+) and (-) by VOM?

2.)Will Rover automatically find the Comm4 devices if I hook up to the
trunk at the BCU? and allow me to revise the configuration of a VAV
    UCM?
3.) Or do I have to remove the Comm4 trunk connection and
    direct-connect to the UCM?
The reason I ask is I've never had any luck using my Rover Comm4 yet and I will need to tomorrow.
    TIA,

We were also able to purchase a fully operational Rover, including Comm4.

comm4 is polarity sensitive and comm5 (Lonworks) is not.You can hook up anywhere on the comm link with the alligator clips;or use the phone jack at the zone sensor. If the contractor ran a comm to the sensor, sometimes the alligator clips are not on the correct terminals on your phone jack. If you can't pick-up communications just switch the alligator clips.

I find it disturbing that you guys are able to buy the full blown version. The last company I worked for bought Rover which only did comm5 configure only. Must be the local trane office holding us contractors back. Thats ok cause I have e-ware so take that.
