    Wardrobe malfunction

I don't think it was that big of a deal. But I also don't think it was an accident. Somebody knew that was going to happen.

Oh no doubt somebody planned it. MTV put on that halftime show after all. And i agree with k_fridge, they could have used a better boob. And the jesus freak comment was in response to his comment about me and my gay friends. Why do christians have to be jesus freaks..well why does anyone that doesn't live their life according to the bible or live how they're told to in church have to be gay?

Well, I am a Christian, and a pretty dedicated on at that. I'm not sure what your definition of Jesus Freak is; if it means a person who has given his life to Christ then I guess I am one. If it means an over zealous person who pushes their faith on others, yeah there are some but the vast majority of us aren't that way. Every group has their extremists, Christians are no different in that respect. On another site I post on, it's the atheists that are the ones pushing their [non]belief on everyone.

The gay comment that was made probably wasn't necessary. Just let that one roll off your back and if it continues I'll put a stop to it.

I realize the majority of christians aren't overzealous people who try to push their beliefs on everyone, though I know plenty that are that way. I just made that comment in response to what bootlen wrote about me and my gay friends who should keep our porn out of his house. Comments like that usually come from overzealous christians that feel a need to label everyone who has different beliefs than them. And I know atheists can be pushy when it comes to trying to convince people they're right. I'm not a big believer in any religion, and i'll gladly share opinions with anyone regarding religion, but when you're discussing something that is such a touchy subject for many, it's hard not to offend someone in the course of a discussion.

Yeah, it was a response to my post.

Here's the deal, air. It's getting real old hearing "change the channel" mantra. Know what? We already do that. So stop wasting your breath. Problem is, after changing the channel, you and your ilk bring it to the channel to which we moved. THAT's getting old, too. Ya see, we used to be able to sit down with family and watch a football game. That seems to be going by the wayside.

So here we have a bunch of people pushing their ideas and sordid way of life on the unexpecting. Slip a nip here and a crack there. No big deal. In a couple of years it will be the norm. THAT is the homosexual MO, air. So you see, they are your friends, claim them or not. I want NONE of it in my home and if I have to eliminate TV altogether, I will. In the mean time, I'm gonna fight your ilk and your friends on the issue because I happen to believe we have as much right to sit down to watch the Super Bowl as you do. Apparently, you don't believe that. And that is very telling, air. Very telling, indeed.
No reserve. No retreat. No regrets.

For those who have fought for it, freedom has a sweetness the protected will never know.

It's that right to free speech that allows them to offend at will.

I mean that, I'm not being facetious (well, maybe just a bit)--everyone's rights are so precious that it doesn't matter that their rights offend someone else's. It's always just 'oh well, it's free speech'.

Smoking is another. (ex-smoker here) Illinois recently passed a no smoking in any public place ban including bars and restaurants. Of course now it's being challenged because smokers have a 'right' to contaminate the air of everyone else including the people that work at these establishments. Even when I smoked I didn't do it in places that it would affect others. Restaurants can have non-smoking sections all they want, that just means you don't smoke there not that you don't GET smoke there.
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

I agree with you that shows containing certain content should be kept on certain channels. As for watching football as a family..well football is all about money, and showing commercials of half naked women in beer commercials is going to make the NFL and the networks more money. And back to the super bowl, I don't get the point of having a big, elaborate halftime show anyway, kills the whole game for me. By the time they're ready to kick off the second half, i'm bored out of my skull. Which is maybe the point...put on a big halftime show that is as exciting as swatting flys, put everyone asleep, assuring they ain't going to change the channel, and thus the ratings will be huge.

Well, the way some people talk about it, you'd think Constitutional rights were being violated, not money.

Lots of money to be made in pimping and prostitution but few people seem to be bothered by their illegality.

There's a fine line to be walked when anyone starts talking about freedom of speech. Do I think it's a violation of freedom of speech when they force a radio DJ off the air because of something he said? Yes, i think it is. Chances are, very few, if any, people listening to that dj were offended by what he said. And that brings it back to the just change the channel argument. Should they're be some control over what is shown on TV, especially network tv? Yes, how much control...well...who has an answer for that.
