    Q1394n

Ran across a Mani q1394 remote without a HPR valve in it. It appears valve was cut out of the system some 3 yrs ago and has been operating without it for that amount of time. HPR soleniod valve is still intact just doesn't have the regulating valve anymore. My initial diagnosis was a TXV overfeed due to a high suction and cold dome of compressor. Went today to recover charge and thats when I started looking for the HPR and couldn't find it. I gonna still replace txv's and install a new HPR system.
    Anybody else seen this before?

I haven't seen one actually able to operate correctly, but I have seen one with it disconnected. I had one about three months ago, dual evaporators, and it would freeze a block tapered from top to bottom every two cycles. Sometimes it wouldn't even make it a full cycle. Is this what you were seeing?

i am basiclly seeing very little ice being formed on left side of evap on the first cycle. second and third cycle produces full sheet. 4th cycle during harvest compressor sounds like it slugging it's a$$ off. I shut it down, you could hear it clear out in the dining room. The HPR soleniod valve was connected it's just missing the regulating valve. So during harvest it's just pulling gas straight off the receiver into the dome of the compressor and the amount is not being regulated.

I had a Hoshizaki stackable single unit with the remote. Had a continual problem of freezing up in the back of the evaporators. It took me four tries to finally find that someone had cut the cap tube to the HPR valve on the roof and installed a klixon style fan control on the back of the receiver hidden behind the back panel.

After correcting the "problem", - no more freeze ups!

I've found the same thing on a ice o matic. Someone cut the pigtail off the headmaster. Premature harvest city when it got cold out. I got lucky on that one and only took me 15 minutes to find the source of the problem. I never seen a HPR (harvest pressure regulating) valve on the roof. Did you mean to say headmaster?

Job is scheduled for tomorrow. HPR system will be installed along with both expansion valves being replaced and new LLFD.
Where should I flow the nitro from while brazing everything up? Front access valves or?
    Thanks

Wasn't shure because Hosi has a type of HPR on the large KM2400 (but it's not on the roof) You fixed it that's all that counts I hope you feel better but you know it will never be the same

No time to think it through now but if you disconnect the coil on the compressor contactor and put it in harvest it opens a few valves, but you only got 3.5 min or you can energise valves with a pig tail and alligator clips. They tell you in the book to braze with nitro but no instructions how

Well, I did all that work today and the b!tch is having trouble harvesting. Harvest Suction psi starts at about 70 and gets to 85 max. right side of evap seems to be releasing first and left appears to be hanging up. I noticed a screw on top of the HPR valve I put in. Is it adjustable? Ran out of time today gonna go back tommorrow if possible?
Also the top white evaporater plastic where the water hits first as it comes out of the distributor has a crack in it. So it maybe allowing some water to freeze behind the plate.
Does MANI sell that top peice or do you have to silicon it?

Oh ya, Freeze psi High side is 240, Low starts at around 40 drops to 27 or so at end of freeze.

You can get that piece. Did you notice the discharge pressure in harvest?

Off hand I am thinking discharge was at least 160 maybe more. I'll look at it some more when I go back. But in the meantime I let it rip. I hope it blows up!
