installing geo unit this weekend pump question

iam going to finish hooking up my geothermal heat pump at my cabin in Canada this weekend ,all the ducting and wiring is done, lake loops filled and up to unit ,the question i have is on the pumps ,iam using two grnfoss 26-116 recic pumps ,they will be wired in series, should i install one pump on inlet and one at outlet side of the unit ,or both pumps on inlet side of the heat pump with one pump dischrging into the inlet side of the other pump which pumps into inlet of geo heatpump, thanks for the great advice so far

Are you using a flow center or just two pumps?

How much water flow is Required?

What did you calculate for the required head pressure?

    Pumps in series: Add pressures
    Pumps in parallel: Add flows

Most geo flow centers I've seen are a "push-pull" type configuration, one on either side of the heat pump. This works well when the pressure drop through the heat pump and the ground/water/pond loop is somewhat equal. If your pond loop is not restrictive and the majority of the pressure drop in the system is in the heat pump, you might want to consider putting both in series pumping into the heat pump. Do you have a system pressure curve? Must be a pretty big cabin to need that much pump!

    Good luck with that finish.

Might want to click that link in dan's post.
