    Hmm Data logger

Anyone using data loggers such as "Onset Hobo" to do energy audits, especially on hydronic systems? I would like to monitor oil/gas boilers to look at short cycling, efficiency, zone, etc problems.

I use them, more for IAQ, humidity and cooling issues

We have some but have used them minimaly. We found that generally a good troubleshooter or the homeowners themselves can tell what the problems are closely enough to remedy any errant situations. The loggers can be very helpful if a client is accusing an installation of being deficient in some realm. No one can tinker with them so they really do deliver the true news. In that regard they're quite helpful.

If you are waiting for the 'other guy' to change first, just remember, you're the 'other guy's' other guy. To continue to expect real change when you keep acting the same way as always, is folly. Won't happen. Real change will only happen when a majority of the people change the way they vote!

    Cool data logger

I looked at "Hobo" by Onset and wasn't impressed with their software . So in doing a web search I came across this site which may be a little better and cheeper. http://www.omega.com/ppt/pptsc.asp?ref=OM-50 I'm going to try their products and I'll let you know. What I would really like is a data logger to use with Honeywell L7224U aquastat which would constantly log the boiler cycles, but I haven't been able to locate one yet.

to each their own I guess, the software launches the loggers you tell it how frequently you want it to take samples, retrives the data, plots it

you can monitor events with it when stuff runs, when it is off.

    Good luck in your search
