Ok....we are not supposed to talk pricing here......however.....I need some professional and experienced guidance.

We had 2 new systems installed (Carrier Performance). We will be selling our house within the next 5 years. Our dealer has discouraged us from getting the 5 year labor warranty (he includes 10 yr. from Carrier "parts" in the contract). Our contractor's lack of enthusiasm for the 5 year labor is that he doesn't think it would be worth it to us as he includes 2 yrs. labor from his shop.

The 5 year labor is pushing 1 K total for 2 complete systems. We do not intend to go for 10 yr. labor.

How good is Carrier about honoring their extended warranty? Is there something in the fine print that should give us cold feet?

It is a roll of the dice whether we would use it or not....but......we have had some really huge bills and would prefer to not revisit the HVAC topic before we move. So.....would the Carrier Extended Warranty buy us "peace of mind" or are there other things that can go wrong, won't be covered ....and in 5 years time it would be better to self insure?

We will indeed have the units serviced every year.

Please advise based on your experience.
