Why Does The Breaker Keep Tripping?

Got a call yesterday from a customer who tells me he keeps having to reset the breaker over and over - but the compressor keeps tripping the breaker.


Geez - I wonder why?

Bend a 90 and add a coupling.

I hear ya Lusker, but if I did that I'd have to reinvent the wheel as there is a sharp 90 about 8' above the one in the pick.

The system in question was rated at 15.0 amp MOP and some knucklehead ran 8 ga solid to the outdoor disconnect.

Here's what I did - and I hope it works ok long term.

I didn't have 12 in my truck, but had 10 stranded so I pulled the 3 8's and ran 10's. My thinking is the stranded wire will be a little less rigid in the conduit and the difference in wire size should allow more play room.

What do ya think?

you know the wire size depends on the lenght of run too.. but...


I hope you used rubber wire bushings or a wire clamp or both with a sevice loop in the box...

Yeah - the run - it's about 40' from the panel......thought it, forgot to mention it

Wires bushed and looped.

1. wire size
2. bad contactor
3 turn to turn shorts in motor windings
there are others, but these are the main ones

note: check of winding ohms to mfr spec will confirm if it's #3

This one was a rub-through and short to ground, plain and simple.....but your reply is valid.

u should have any problems with cutting the insulation on those 90s.. They are pull 90's so just break them apart and feed the wire
