    GAM5 Install

Took a quick pic of an install we did last week

I don't have any other pics replaced a Trane XE80 gas furnace on propane and a XE1200 with a GAM5 and XR13 Heat Pump

Way to go on putting the drain line in front of the blower door. Also, good job putting the tubing in the way of electric heat kit.

im pretty sure that heat kit wont slide out.

Why not just 90 right over to the wall and down to the drain?

The drain my helper did I would have done it a little differently

there is no heat kit in the unit and if there was you could get it in and out the line set goes out 6" before it goes up

I am not a fan of these air handlers I miss the old metal ones with these it seems no matter what you do you are blocking something and they leak air like crazy

They can leak up to 2%. The old ah leaked more but, you couldnt tell because its sucking air in, not blowing it out.

If you have a ah in the attic, would you rather suck in hot dirty air or have air leak out?

If you follow the install guide, they are nice and easy units to install.

There easy to install but the refrigerant lines can be tight in some applications like in a closet you need to leave room to get the doors off and the line set is in the middle of the air handler

I hate these air handlers, when I had installed one for the first time I couldn't get the doors on because of the way I routed the copper , I quickly learned my mistakes. Another thing I find, customers complain of the noise when this unit turns on, even with the baffle kit that American Standard makes. Lennox all the way!

If everyone would take the time to RTFM, it gives you all the info you need. Such as, how far to keep condensate and tubing away from unit for doors to come off, why not to route tubing in front of electric heat kit, where not to drill into the unit, how to take sensors off so they don't burn up, etc....

I love the Trane hyperion line. They are easy to disassemble and install in attics. Way better than the metal cabinet air handlers.
