I have met quite a few Canucks over here. Not sure if the pay is different or not but if you have some experience they will take you. It doesn't take much in the experience department to qualify.

The guy that runs the sheet metal shop at Liberty is like 65 to 75 years old. I have worked with guys ranging in age from 20 to 60. Heck, I am almost 40. You do need to be physically able to do the job and withstand the heat. The job is not hard but he heat is brutal. As long as you can pass the physical your fine. They won't let you over here with some problems like diabetes. If you have high blood pressure it must be under control when you go through Houston.

    Question D7

Don't mean to hijack this thread but can anyone tell me where "D7" is in Iraq. Which COB, FOB or camp and the name. I have an offer to go there and want to see where I may be headed. Thanks

D7 is Rustamiyah which is south of Baghdad I think. All the D sites are around Baghdad.

I am seeing 80k to 135k tax free to basically be a repair man in Iraq for a year.

I can see it maybe worth it for a young single person other than that no way.

Danger, staying in an unknown place, food probably sucks, miss out on everything back home, you don't know anyone, no good looking women, no good bars, no porn, (Hell you have nothing to live for there). I would maybe do it for 250k tax free with a sign on and contract completion bonus of 10k and a bullet proof Cadillac Escalade.

Only the first 85k is tax free. Food is actually not that bad and some bases have burger kings, pizza hut, taco bell, popeyes, subway, baskin robbins, cinnabon, hardees, and many others. You get to meet people you would never have met otherwise, you do meet alot of a**holes but alot of good people too. There are some good looking women here (1 for every 1000 guys and a million to one odds you will ever get close to one, but hey they are here.). There is alot of porn here you just can't let certain people know you got it. Okay, so there are no bars you were right on that one, but just that one.
