Thermostat - which to get Honeywell vs. Trane

My system will most like consist of:

    Trane XV80 furnace
    Trane XL14i AC/Heat Pump

My question is which thermostat should I use for this system? I only want to consider 7 day touch screens. The ones below seem like the exact same unit.

    Honeywell TH8320 VisionPRO

    Trane TCONT802 XL800 Series

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    K

They are the same basic T-stat

Trane dumbed down the 8320 best I remember.

is there any package $$$ difference from the contractor?

If you are getting a heat pump, get the IAQ version so you can stage the gas furnace. The 8320/802 cannot.

Trane's TCONT803AS32DA tstat. It was designed for that system.

I had the same system installed this summer and as a result of conversations on this board, I chose the Vision Pro IAQ

Nice TStat and it will do a good job with that system should you decide to go with it

I'll wager the trane T/Stat is a honeywell with the face changed .

    Thanks for all the input.

I can not believe the price difference the contractor quoted vs. the market rate for an IAQ T/Stat. There should be N/C to install a t-stat if they are installing a new furnace and Heat Pump so this should not be factored in the price of the thermostat.

I understand that the contractor needs to make money but highway robbery is another story. I guess I will be making some calls and getting 4-5 quotes using similar equipment (Trane/American Standard) before I decide to pull the trigger on the new system.

Thanks again and if you have anything to add or suggest please do so.

    The 803 is a TH8321.

No dehumidify on demand, no staging of gas furnace if dual fuel, no backup if dual fuel... compared to IAQ. Many other features lost.

Spend the money for the IAQ. Best t-stat out there for this type of set up.. You'll be glad you did.

I know I am happy with mine!
