Much Difference Between 14 & 16 SEER?
Rheen 14 SEER, R22. Cost of about $850 more to go to a 16 SEER. I don't think Rheem sells a 15 SEER. I live in Cincinnati, OH, i.e. only about 2 - 3 months of really hot, humid weather. Would it be worth the cost to upgrade?

i would go with a 14seer i think it would take a long time to get your money back with the 16seer. if you want to save money you may want to look in to a heatpump.

if the 16 seer is a 2 stage it is, if not I don't feel there is a significant enough savings to justify the cost, but with 2 stage it is like having 2 systems, seeing how the unit only needs to run at total design temp for a few days a yr, during milder temps they will run on 1st stage for the most part. Same theory with a 2 stage furnace.
You can't fix stupid

A 16 SEER 2 stage is more for comfort then pay back from energy savings.
How much is your personal comfort worth to you.
