high velocity heat: does your boiler run 24/7?
Anyone have a hi velocity (unico) heating system, setup such that the gas boiler runs continuously? Even when the thermostat temperature setting is reached?
The installer has explained there could be a cost savings by keeping the water that supplies the hot water coil hot all the time, as opposed to heating the water every time the room temperature dips below the thermostat setting, and I should wait and see what my gas bills are like. I've only used the heat for a week. (The AC I've used all summer).
I can wait and see, but his explanation seems unlikely. Not to mention that I already dislike the idea of running my circulator pump and my boiler 24/7. Or that the PEX pipes running from the basement boiler to the attic blower are HOT 24/7. I pray for no leaks.
My installer has been knowledgeable and professional, but I know there can be numerous approaches, so I'd love to hear what other's think of this setup.
The house is less than 1000sf large. Winters are usually moderate here in Virginia.

Where in VA? What is the model of your boiler?
Karst means cave. So, I search for caves.
