You could do an in depth search as to why most people always take the low bidder. Just kidding. There are a lot of subjects in HVAC you could do a project on. What part of the trade most intrigues you? That would be a good place to start.
i go to a vocational school. I am in the hvac shop, and senior year is around the corner, as well as the due date for my senior project topic. i would like you to please give any suggestions that would provide me witrh a topic with which i could research it, write a ten page essay on it and eventually create a product. this project is necessary for my graduation, and i would very much appreciate any ideas. thank you!

We only want to do it, if we can do it right.
how about:

You know it's a marketing thing, but it's really not a bad idea, or a theme and variation on what happens when you take the low bidder. Plenty of pics on this site of the low bidder and what the end results are...............
But the lobster tank in the other thread sounds like fun!

The topic of indoor air quality in Men's Rooms of the local Taco Bar would be excellent. You could do a toxicological analysis of the LC50 and LD50 for gaseous and semi-gaseous burrito byproducts. You could demonstrate in the classroom if you time the ingestion of cheap Mexican food just right.

How about a study of Psychrometrics...
...construct your own Sling Psychrometer using glass
thermometers and/or digital thermometers (for comparison)...
...complete a study (Dry Bulb and Wet Bulb readings) of classrooms (empty and full of students) and plot results
on Psychrometric Charts...
...build your own ac unit (as simple as pumping ice
water through copper tubing and a fan - see wolfstrike's
avatar) for getting Return Air and Supply Air readings
for plotting on Psychrometric Charts...
...use Norm Christopherson's Airside Diagnostics book for
reference...
...have fun and good luck!

Another great topic that would easily take up 10 pages is the evolution of the residential HVAC system.
We've went from a fire in the middle of a cave floor to geo thermal heating and cooling.
How to find US America on a map
thank you very much! i will try that and greatly appreciate it
Hey Caboose how about, the evolution of hvac industry controls.
You could do your ten pages easily, and have a show and tell. Maybe have guys on hvactalk send you some old controls that they have taken out. You could make up a PowerPoint presentation of all the new technology we use today. Just my 2 cent.
I remembered something. Project: How techs will over emphasize the affect of a vacuum pump in drying a wet refer system.
What made think of this was a friend went to NY to Carrier Tech school and the instructor put a drop of water in a sight glass, connected a vacuum pump , and watched as the little drop danced around. Every one went home for the night.
In the morning the little drop was still dancing around like nothing happened.
After hearing this I realized how using a torch on a wet system along with a pump was the only way it was going to happen.
The problem isn't how to build the project but how to get 10 pages... Maybe #20 font?
